What matters most....
....is it the actual change or the attempt too change? The thought to change MUST be followed with the action to change. So many of my clients want to change but don't supply themselves with the proper tools and/or reasons to change. If we think on it, fitness = life, the better shape we are in the longer life we can potentially have. Not only a longer happier life, but a better quality of life.
The thought of making a change is the first step, but family - it must be followed by action..... There is so much out there that it can be intimidating and overwhelming, but it is doable - finding what works - for you and is manageable - for you and creates a lifestyle change - for you, is what you are looking for.
It requires some study, some education and most importantly - if it sounds to good to be true.......
..............it is - or it is not healthy!
One of my favorite sites is www.exrx.net - there are still some things on there I don't agree with, BUT no ONE program is going to be EVERYTHING that you need. Variety and then consistency are the tools needed to create a long term change and goal.
Next post is my Vision Board and how to create your own for change. This is a tangible goal oriented way to hold yourself accountable.........

No Carb diets......
.......I will SCREAM the next time someone comes to me with a "No Carb" diet......
People - low carb diets are "quick fix" programs for those needing to getting low body fat for a photo shoot, carb loading for athletic event, or to drop a "quick" few pounds. IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE A PERMANENT eating change.
Carbs have been scientifically shown to work on the brains pleasure and help moderate, encourage, and/or create good feelings - energy, etc... no carbs mean grumpy, angry, low tolerance, confusion, and NO ENERGY until your body gets acclimated to living without carbs...(my girlfriend almost had to get her own apartment during her last show).BUT, once you go back to eating carbs, you will regain the weight you lost. It is never about over-or-under compensating, it is about moderation - here is my philosophy:
You eat good carbs and good proteins up until 1-2pm, at that time you stop eating carbs so that your body uses carbs that have been stored and the carbs that you ate earlier that day without storing unused carbs as fat - that you eat after 2 (when you wake up and even up until mid day the carbs you take in help energize you throughout the days activities, once you start winding down from work, or school and you home at night with family or not as busy, then carbs stare as fat until used). After 2pm you can eat all the lean meats and veggies (watch the high sugar ones) that you want. Now, I can get all technical and explain the process but who really pays attention to that - what people want to know - what YOU want to know is basic, simple "Eating concepts that you can apply easily, simply, and adapt to your LIFESTYLE CHANGE - here it is............(as you look at this simple eating program that I follow, imagine that your plate is 100% and you are putting on the percentages that I put down. In one of my earlier posts i stated that there are SO MANY different physical, physiological, and health related issues that EVERYONE cannot eat like this - BUT for those that can try it - remember I am not telling you what to eat, I am giving you my athletic eating concept that gives about 1 gram of protein per pound of body-weight, carbs to get you going and sustain you through the day, and good fat to help with the weight loss process. No one diet works people, EVERY "diet" gets something right but is not an effectively complete lifestyle change. The change is what is needed while learning moderation, and figuring out what works for you! Everything in moderation, no ONE program will do it forever. Everything changes, evolves, and you must continue to change and evolve....................there is no 1 RIGHT way, you find the concepts that help define a healthy, comfortable, and manageable, weight loss program for you.

When asked "What should my Body Fat be"?
There simply is no consensus as to what "ideal body weight" should be. In reality, it is actually different for every individual and is dependent on health, body fat content and distribution, musculature, age, activity, metabolism, and a host of other factors that are not simple to measure accurately. For these reasons, you and your physician or dietitian must decide what your ideal weight should be. You probably have an idea what that weight is. Start conservatively. And if you reach your target weight and still feel you need to trim off additional weight, you always have option to set a new target goal.
